Stop 2 - S8 Bruce and Susie
The ongoing drought was the catalyst for xeriscaping this yard. Originally envisioned as dry creek beds, rock garden and decomposed granite instead of lawn, this owner-designed and -built landscape gradually evolved. A pond wasn't even in the plan until Susie decided they needed a water feature. Now two years old, the 11- by 9-foot pond has several bogs, a waterfall and fountain, and is surrounded by tropical plants like banana trees and canna lilies and is populated by goldfish, koi, pond poppies, water lilies and anacharis.
Stop 3 - S9 Tom and Sherry
A large stone creates a bridge over the stream that connects two ponds and allows access to the stone patio. The stream ends with a waterfall into a deep pond with many beautiful koi. Homeowner Tom created the sculptures. He teaches metal art at ACC and Sherry is a percussion instructor. There were fabulous artistic touches everywhere we looked. Some of us especially enjoyed the crystals!
